My funny, forgetful housekeeper (whom I fondly call "Amazona, ang babaing walang pahinga!" is at the height of her menopausal period. Headaches, hot flashes, allergies, and high blood pressure, are like breakfast, lunch, and dinner for her. I tried explaining to her whats happening to her body, with all these inflammation and stuff. I gave up after about 30 minutes. She thinks she is being played at by gremlins and trolls living by our fruit trees at the backyard. She does drink plenty of water as per my nagging. She said she misses drinking juice ('coz she might also be diabetic). Hence, this favorite tea I learned from an aunt obsessed with healthy lifestyle.A health tonic for all types of inflammation, and high blood pressure.
Ingredients:
Procedure:
Ingredients:
- lemon grass stalks (dirty parts removed, slightly mashed)
- fresh turmeric (peeled, mashed) -- commercial powder form just doesn't make the cut
- lemon/kalamansi juice extract
- honey or sugar
- water
- other fruit juice concentrate ( I used mango)
Procedure:
- boil the lemongrass stalks and the turmeric in water (I made about a gallon)
- Upon boiling, remove from the heat and strain while transferring to a wider container. Let cool at room temperature
- Pour the sour extract, other fruit juice concentrate (if any), and the honey while stirring. The taste depends on preference
- Keep in clean containers.
- Drink hot like tea, or cold like a refreshing juice
